Several large organizations including Wal-Mart, Target, and the U.S. Department of Defense have mandated that some of their key suppliers use RFID tags/chips on cartons and pallets.
Since those mandates were given to suppliers, many other companies have followed and require more and more of their suppliers to use RFID tags at the carton and pallet level.
This is having a ripple effect through the supply chain and will continue to grow over the next many years.
Additionally as the cost of the RFID technology comes down, even more organizations will implement it.
As time has passed a number of creative people have thought of many new uses for the RFID technology that are outside of the traditional supply chain.
I am sure there will be many new applications identified as the technology gets implemented more and the costs come down.
From a computer application perspective there are two main implications to the source code required changes.
The first is where do you store the new RFID field and the second is how does your company want to use, analyze, print or display the new RFID information.
Both of these will require source code changes and may need new programs to be written.
ADPAC can help with both of these requirements. We have numerous products, along with the methodologies, and project management skills needed to complete this type of project at a significant cost reduction
than doing the project with your own in house resources. ADPAC does this at a fixed price, will get it done on time and with a high degree of accuracy.
